JOSELITO D. DE LOS REYES, Ph.D., chairperson of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Creative Writing department, is a poet, fictionist, essayist, translator, and columnist. He is currently a resident fellow of the UST Center for Creative Writing and Literary Studies and a research associate of the UST Research Center for Culture, Arts and Humanities.

De Los Reyes has won the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Writer’s Prize for his book of fiction, the National Book Awards for his books of essays, the National Book Awards, the Readers’ Choice Awards, and the Gintong Aklat Awards for his books on creative nonfiction, the Makata ng Taon from the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino for his poetry, and the Best Religious Inspirational Song at the Catholic Mass Media Awards for his song lyrics. He is also a recipient of the Gawad Sulo: The Philippine Normal University Eminent Alumni Awards and the Dr. Pio Valenzuela Memorial Awards as an outstanding citizen of Valenzuela City in the field of literature and journalism.

He has a BSE in Social Sciences degree from the Philippine Normal University in Manila. He obtained his master’s and doctorate in Philippine Studies from De La Salle University. He regularly contributes popular culture and new media opinion for Abante and Rappler. He is a radio show host of a weekly popular culture program for DWAR Abante Radyo.

As a professor, De Los Reyes teaches writing for new media, seminar in new media, and creative nonfiction at the UST Faculty of Arts and Letters and the UST Graduate School.
